Training for My 2nd Half-Marathon

This week I started training for my second half-marathon. I ran my first half-marathon in May 2023, back in Pittsburgh, a city that I spent my most formative years in. Back then, I was finishing up my pharmacy schooling and going through a major heartbreak, so training for the half-marathon was especially physically and mentally exhausting. In fact, training for the half became my main outlet. It became a way to prove to myself that I can do anything that I set my mind out to do.

This time around, things are a bit different. Mentally, I’m in a much better place and physically, I have been active (although a bit spontaneous about it) all year so it’s already a much better start. Also, I no longer feel like I have this pressure of proving anything to myself.

I’ve started the training rather easy, starting with 3-mile runs and increasing up to 7 miles this week and I feel like I am off to a good start. I finally found a trail I am satisfied with. The weather is starting to get nicer, too.

Things are looking up so far. Let’s hope it keeps feeling that way when I get up to 10 miles.
