April Already? Job Hunting, Friends Visiting & Trip Planning

How is it April already? 2024 has been flying by, and it’s a feeling that has been shared by a lot of people I talk to.

Spring has always been a transitional period. It’s the season of new beginnings. Last year, I was transitioning from a college student to a graduate. The year before, I was finishing up my didactic classes and starting my pharmacy rotations. The year before…. okay, you get the point.

This year, I’m finishing up my post-doctoral fellowship and in the midst of job hunting for the next big thing. In the beginning, I was really stressed about the whole ordeal, but now my mentality is that whatever is meant to be for me will happen.

In other news, these past couple months have been filled with family and friends visiting, and trip planning. My sister visited me at the end of February and it turned out to be a great weekend weather-wise, so I was able to take her to a lot of cool spots. I showed her my running trail, workplace, favorite neighborhood, bubble tea shop, and the huge international grocery store where I go to buy my Asian foods. I know that doesn’t sound all that exciting, but it was still fun taking her around to all the classics.

My college friends also visited at the end of March. We went to the LANY concert together, and I took them to all the classics as well. It was a fun weekend and made me miss hanging out with all of them. Wouldn’t it be so fun if we just picked a city and got an apartment all together? In the meantime, our reunions have been at random cities based on where concerts are.

February and March have been slow travel months. Before then, I had spent most of December and January traveling (Homebase -> Atlanta -> CT -> Quebec City -> CT -> NYC -> Colombia -> Homebase… whoa). 2023 was honestly a crazy travel year for me, going somewhere new at least once or thrice a month. It was definitely an adjustment having to stay put for a longer period of time, but in a good way. I was able to focus on myself, my relationships, and my hobbies. With that being said, April and May will be some crazy travel months, and I’m excited to be back on the road again.

Till next time,

Emily
